The Fields Project
The Fields Project and Arts Festival is a unique art venue, which
showcases field sculpture and also features an outdoor art show.
Both celebrate the century long marriage of art and agriculture
in Ogle Country, which began in 1898 when Lorado Taft founded the
Eagles' Nest Art Colony and established it on the banks of the Rock
River.
Just as the beauty of this area inspired artists then, it continues
today to draw painters, sculptors, and photographers to Oregon providing
them an opportunity to "paint the land" and find endless subject
matter for artistic expression.
In addition to featuring the work of professional artists, local
and countywide high school students are invited to participate.
Together with their instructors they are invited to create a 10-15
acre earthwork sculpture and discover connections to the agricultural
community. Participating students are given the opportunity to exhibit
and demonstrate their own works of art at the Art Show and Sale.
Airplane rides providing aerial viewing of the field sculptures,
a juried art show and sale, live music, children's activities and
games, and good food round out the weekend fun.
