Illinois Freedom Bell
Located only five miles from Oregon is the charming Village of Mt.
Morris, IL. Known throughout the Midwest as a publishing and printing
center, it is also home to the official Illinois Freedom Bell.
The original Freedom Bell was dedicated by Ronald Regan in 1963.
It was later recast as a replica of the Liberty Bell. The state
of Illinois declared it the Offical Freedom Bell in 1971. This bell
graces the lawn of the town square.
Mt. Morris is also known for its Let Freedom Ring Festival, which
draws thousands there to celebrate Indepence Day. The ringing of
the bell is part of the festivities.
Let Freeesom Ring offers visitors an opportunity to enjoy an old
fashioned 4th of July with all the warmth that only a small town
celebration can bring.
In addition to the ringing of the Freedom Bell, activities include
a big parade, carnival midway, the Let Freedom Ring queen contest,
and a large fireworks display.
