Art
Oregon has a rich art and cultural heritage that dates back to its
early days, when in the summer of 1898, renowned sculptor, Lorado
Taft along with other prestigious artists and writers located the
Eagles' Nest Artist Colony here. The evidence of their presence
remains in numerous statues located throughout the city. These can
be viewed along Oregon's Sculpture
Trail. Continuing this early tradition, the Oregon area is home
to three working foundries, two with adjoining sculpture galleries;
a revived Eagles' Nest Group, several performing arts guilds, The
Arts Alliance, and an extensive art collection located in an upstairs
gallery at the Oregon Library.
In addition to viewing galleries, there are several craft, collector,
and retail shops to supply resident and visitor needs.
